This weeks Thrifty Thursday takes me back to my collegiate years.
I know you’re all probably thinking why would this Aztec style rug make you think of college? Well because I bought it for $25 at a local antique store in Charleston, IL while I was getting my undergrad. Yes, even in college I scoured the antique stores and thrift shops for hidden gems, the girls in my sorority thought I was nuts, but were always jealous of what I came home with.
I have no idea how old the rug is, come to think of it I don’t know anything about it other than what the man at the store told me. He told me that it’s hand-woven and not to vacuum it, Ha. its been vacuumed a time or two and still looks like it did the day I bought it. This bad boy has made it through 4 moves and a lot of foot traffic over the past few years and I’m sure if it could sing it would be singing “I’ve been everywhere man”. Not only does this rug hold a place in my heart, but I love the vibe it gives a room. Somehow it instantly jazz’s up a space and makes it feel homey. Currently its resides in our loft/Dan’s man cave and looks awesome, really gives off that manly mountain cabin feel, if you know what I mean.
Moral of the story here, rugs these days aren’t cheap so keep an eye out while you’re thrifting you just never know what you may find lying around.
If you or anyone you know can tell me more about this rug I would truly appreciate the info!
