Happy Thrifty Thursday everyone!
I don’t know about you guys, but there’s just something nostalgic about a silver tray that I can’t deny. My mind starts wondering whose table its sat on was it used for a family’s thanksgiving turkey or maybe a Christmas ham? Either way these two beauts came home with me to make new memories and serve me and my family well.
I found these two at a garage sale, but it wasn’t your average garage sale. Everything in the house was for sale. Yes, you heard me the whole house! I felt like I walked into in gold mine that day. However, the sale was happening because an elderly couple had both passed and the family was trying to rid themselves of the items they didn’t want to keep. Sad.
Moving my way around the house I found numerous knick knacks I wanted so I started making a pile in a corner. Some of the items weren’t marked with a price including my silver babes. I asked the woman in the house how much she wanted for them and she said “oh I don’t know how about $2 each”. Before I could even process what had just happened I said DEAL! My first thought was is she nuts these are worth more than that and then it hit me that this family was ready to move on. A few minutes later I collected my stock pile of things and made my way to the check out table. When I got to the table the woman started totaling my items she got half way done, looked up at me and said “oh shoot how about $10 for all of it?” OK, wait just a minute am I dreaming?! Nope totally real which means I got each item for about .50-$1.00. I drove home that day with the biggest smile on my face thinking maybe the woman who had once owned the trays was looking down on me smiling too.
I would love to hear about your thrifting adventures! Please comment or email me!
